What’s the average investment in Savings Bonds?

According to government statistics, about 55 million individuals own a Savings Bond investment of over $200 billion.
The U.S. is approaching a population of 300 million people and 110 million households.
The Savings Bond investment of:
- the average American is over $650
- the average American household is over $1,800
- the average American who owns any Savings Bonds is over $3,650
And, if the ratio of the number of households to the number of households that own Savings Bonds is about the same as the number of individuals to the number of individuals who own Savings Bonds:
The Savings Bond investment of:
- The 20 million households that own any Savings Bonds is over $9,900
If the 80-20 rule holds, and 20% of the individuals who own Savings Bonds have 80% of the investment, 11 million individuals have an average of over $14,500 invested in Savings Bonds.
Likewise, 4 million households have an average of $40,000 invested in Savings Bonds.
